No Harm to Journalists Under New Accreditation Policy, Says TUWJ (IJU)
Koilkonda Narayan Reddy calls for unity among journalists, says all professionals will benefit equally under the new guidelines.
Narayanpet, December 27: ( Abdul Raheem / Patriotic Views) The recently issued accreditation Government Order (G.O.) by the state government will not cause any harm to professional journalists, said Mr. Koilkonda Narayan Reddy, District President of TUWJ (IJU), Narayanpet. He urged journalists not to believe the misinformation being deliberately spread regarding the new G.O.
Speaking to the media in Narayanpet on Saturday, Mr. Narayan Reddy stated that the new guidelines issued by the state government on journalist accreditation are aimed at rectifying shortcomings that existed in the earlier system. He explained that under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Information Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, the government is seriously considering framing stronger and more effective welfare policies for journalists. In this regard, the state committee of TUWJ (IJU) has also submitted several important suggestions to the government.
He pointed out that during the previous government’s tenure, the accreditation G.O. clearly reflected discrimination against Urdu journalists and injustice towards small newspapers. This discriminatory approach was struck down by the Telangana High Court. In line with the court’s directions, necessary changes and reforms have been incorporated into the new G.O.
Expressing concern, Mr. Narayan Reddy said that certain elements are intentionally spreading false information and creating the impression that welfare schemes will be limited to only a select group of journalists. “This is completely untrue,” he clarified, adding that all professional journalists will be entitled to these benefits on an equal basis. He assured that TUWJ (IJU) is ready to provide a detailed clarification if required.
He further stated that there are continuous opportunities for dialogue with the Chief Minister and the Information Minister regarding journalists’ issues and welfare measures. Despite this, some political elements are deliberately trying to provoke journalists and incite protests, which he described as highly unfortunate.
Mr. Narayan Reddy expressed confidence that the present people’s government under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy maintains a positive and fair approach towards journalists and will not adopt discriminatory practices like the previous government. He emphasized that the government is working sincerely to protect journalists’ rights and ensure their welfare.
In conclusion, he appealed to journalists not to fall prey to rumors surrounding the new G.O., to understand the facts clearly, and to move forward with unity and confidence.
