Additional Collector Pandu Flags Off Handloom Walk Rally on National Handloom Day

Sangareddy, August 7:

Additional Collector Pandu called for greater support to the handloom sector by recognizing the craftsmanship of weavers and creating awareness about the various welfare schemes introduced by the government for their benefit.

On the occasion of National Handloom Day, a Handloom Walk Rally was organized on Friday from the Government ITI College, Sangareddy, to the District Collectorate. The rally was flagged off by the Additional Collector.

Addressing the gathering, he said that the handloom sector is a symbol of India’s rich cultural heritage. He emphasized that weavers, who have preserved this traditional occupation for generations and produce exceptional handwoven fabrics through their skill and dedication, deserve recognition and respect from society.

He appealed to the public to support the handloom industry by purchasing and using handloom products, thereby contributing to the livelihood and welfare of weavers.

The Additional Collector also directed officials to create awareness among weavers about the various welfare and promotional schemes offered by the government and ensure that every eligible beneficiary avails of these programmes.

The rally was attended by Assistant Director of the Handlooms Department Venkata Rao, district officials, departmental staff, handloom workers, youth, and members of the public.
