Hyderabad Traffic Police Crack Down on Drunken Driving, 404 Motorists Caught in Two-Day Drive

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted a special two-day drive against drunken driving on August 21 and 22, booking cases against 404 motorists found driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to the police, the drive resulted in the detection of 352 two-wheeler riders, 30 three-wheeler drivers and 22 four-wheeler and other vehicle drivers for drunken driving violations.

Of the total cases, 92 motorists were found with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) level of 30–50 mg/100 ml. The police recorded 179 cases in the 51–100 mg/100 ml range, 63 cases in the 101–150 range, 39 cases in the 151–200 range and 20 cases in the 201–250 range.

Six motorists recorded BAC levels between 251 and 300 mg/100 ml, while five cases involved levels above 300 mg/100 ml.

The Hyderabad Traffic Police said it would maintain zero tolerance towards drunken driving and warned that similar special drives would continue across the city.

The police appealed to motorists to avoid driving after consuming alcohol, cooperate with traffic personnel and strictly follow road safety rules to prevent accidents and protect the lives of commuters.
