TPCC Legal Cell Holds Dharna at Telangana High Court Condemning Police Action on Students and Extends Solidarity to the Student Movement

A protest dharna was organised by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Legal Cell at Gate No. 6, High Court of Telangana, on 24-07-2026, demanding the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the handling of issues concerning students and the alleged police excesses against peaceful student protesters.

MOMIN ROSHAN ZAMEER, ADVOCATE, STATE GENERAL SECRETARY AND INCHARGE SOCIAL MEDIA, LEGAL CELL- TPCC AND MEMBER HYDERABAD WAQF PROTECTION AND CO ORDINATION COMMITTEE, GOVERNMENT OF TELANGANA, strongly condemned the police action against students in Delhi. He stated that students across the country have been conducting peaceful and democratic protests to safeguard their rights, but instead of addressing their legitimate concerns, the Delhi Police allegedly resorted to brutal force, assaulting students and suppressing their democratic voices.

MOMIN ROSHAN ZAMEER said that the actions of the Central Government and the police are unacceptable in a democratic society. He demanded the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, holding him morally responsible for the situation that led to the unrest and the alleged attacks on students.

He further stated that the advocates’ community has always stood with students whenever they fight for justice, constitutional rights, and genuine public causes. He emphasized that lawyers have a moral and constitutional duty to defend the rule of law and protect citizens whose democratic rights are violated.

MOMIN ROSHAN ZAMEER also appreciated the efforts of the AICC Legal Cell advocates in New Delhi, who are providing legal assistance and representing students facing criminal cases arising out of the protests. He stated that the legal fraternity across the country stands united in safeguarding the constitutional rights of students and ensuring that justice prevails.

The protest witnessed the participation of advocates from the High Court of Telangana, City Civil Courts, District Courts, members of the TPCC Legal Cell, and several senior and junior advocates, who expressed solidarity with the student movement and condemned the alleged police brutality.

The participants raised slogans demanding justice for students, protection of democratic rights, and accountability for those responsible for the alleged use of excessive force against peaceful protesters. They reiterated that every citizen has the constitutional right to peaceful protest and that any attempt to suppress such rights must be opposed through lawful and democratic means.
