Khammam Collector and Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy Review Land Re-Survey, Assure Farmers of Protection Under Bhu Bharati Act
Khammam, August 20: Telangana Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the Bhu Bharati Act aims to provide a permanent solution to farmers’ land issues and protect their land rights through a transparent and fair system. He was addressing a farmers’ interaction and awareness programme on cadastral and non-cadastral land re-survey at Narayanapuram village in Sathupalli mandal on Thursday. Khammam District Collector Sri Divakara T.S., I.A.S., was also present.
The Minister said that around 6,000 acres have been re-surveyed in the last 25 days in Bethupalli Revenue Village, which has a total extent of 12,047 acres. He assured that the remaining land would also be covered soon and urged farmers to report any objections or discrepancies during the survey so that they could be corrected without causing loss to anyone.
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy directed officials to protect access roads leading to agricultural fields and ensure they are not recorded as private land. He also stressed the need to preserve village tanks by clearly marking their boundaries and taking protective measures, stating that safeguarding water bodies would help improve groundwater levels across the region.
The Minister said that of the 12,047 acres in Bethupalli Revenue Village, nearly 2,026 acres are assigned lands, of which about 980 acres have already been distributed to the poor. He assured that the rights of eligible farmers cultivating assigned lands would be protected and clarified that no genuine beneficiary would lose ownership under the re-survey process.
Criticising the previous government, he alleged that many genuine cultivators were denied land rights while some ineligible beneficiaries received Rythu Bandhu benefits. He also said that a pilot survey in the Nagarjuna Sagar project area had identified nearly 3,400 fake pattadar passbooks, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring land rights for genuine farmers.
The Minister said the land re-survey is being carried out using modern technology to prepare accurate digital maps and coordinates for every land parcel. He added that 70 villages in each district have been selected for the first phase of the state-wide re-survey and that the government aims to complete the survey of agricultural lands and inhabited properties across Telangana within the next 18 months.
