Hyderabad:08/04/2026
Signalling a proactive start to her tenure, Telangana’s Special Chief Secretary for Tourism, Youth Advancement and Culture, A. Vani Prasad, IAS, recently conducted a field inspection of key tourism infrastructure in Hyderabad soon after assuming charge, with a focus on bringing long-pending and underutilised public facilities into full operation. Accompanied by P. Gautami, Managing Director of the Telangana Tourism Development Corporation (TGTDC), and department officials, Vani Prasad visited the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Statue premises near Necklace Road and the Musical Fountain at Sanjeevaiah Park, Hyderabad.
During the inspection, the Special Chief Secretary reviewed the status of several tourism assets that have already been completed but remain either unopened to the public or are being used only partially. Officials were directed to take immediate steps to ensure that these facilities are fully operationalised without further delay. At the Ambedkar Statue premises, Vani Prasad reviewed the surrounding development works and instructed officials to prepare a comprehensive plan for the proposed lawn areas, with emphasis on improving aesthetics and enhancing the visitor experience. She also suggested that the available spaces be utilised more effectively for tourism-related activities, cultural programmes and public engagement events. Later, the team inspected the Musical Fountain project at Sanjeevaiah Park, which was completed with support from the Union Ministry of Tourism but has not yet been opened to the public. Expressing concern over the delay, Vani Prasad directed the officials concerned to expedite the necessary formalities and make the facility accessible at the earliest.
She stressed that completed tourism infrastructure should not be allowed to remain idle and underlined the importance of ensuring that public investments translate into visible benefits for both residents and visitors. She also called for better upkeep, timely execution and efficient management to strengthen tourism infrastructure in Hyderabad and across Telangana. TGTDC MD Gautami assured the Special Chief Secretary that immediate steps would be taken to fast-track the opening of the Musical Fountain and prioritise development around the Ambedkar Statue premises. The visit is being seen as an early indication of the government’s intent to push for faster execution and better utilisation of tourism infrastructure in the state.
