Harish Rao Leads BRS Delegation, Demands Justice for Singareni Workers
Hyderabad, December 27, 2025:
Senior BRS leader and former Minister T. Harish Rao along with former Ministers Koppula Eshwar and other TBGKS leaders met Singareni Director Gautam and submitted a memorandum highlighting the serious issues faced by Singareni workers.
The BRS leaders demanded the immediate constitution of a Medical Board and restoration of dependent (compassionate) jobs with a humanitarian approach. They alleged that the Congress government was indulging in unjust and anti-worker practices against Singareni employees.
The delegation also strongly condemned the illegal arrests of journalists, stating that democracy in the state was under threat. “If people question the government, they are being arrested and crushed with an iron hand. Do workers not have the right to protest or submit representations?” they asked.
Harish Rao warned that once BRS returns to power, an inquiry will be ordered into the ₹110 crore expenditure on football events, and those responsible will be brought to book.
Addressing Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, the BRS leaders demanded immediate formation of a Medical Board and allocation of jobs to Singareni workers’ children, failing which BRS would lay siege to Praja Bhavan along with affected workers.
Harish Rao’s Strong Remarks
Speaking to the media, Harish Rao said the anti-worker actions of the Congress government in the matter of dependent jobs were clearly brought to the notice of the Singareni Director. He recalled that when dependent jobs were cancelled during the tenure of N. Chandrababu Naidu, BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao had restored them immediately after coming to power.
He pointed out that out of nearly 40,000 Singareni employees, about 20,000 are dependent workers. Though the government promised to conduct Medical Board meetings twice a month, it was held only twice in the last two years.
Harish Rao accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of displaying hostility towards workers. “Even employees who have lost limbs, eyesight, or undergone bypass surgery are finding it difficult to secure jobs. This is not a people’s government, but an inhuman, anti-labour government,” he said.
He further alleged a conspiracy to privatise Singareni, stating that power bills are unpaid, coal is not being lifted, salaries are being paid through overdrafts, and the company has been pushed into deep financial distress.
“After Revanth Reddy came to power, Singareni has fallen into nearly ₹50,000 crore debt. Is it right to choke Singareni when Bhatti Vikramarka is the Finance Minister?” Harish Rao questioned.
Raising objections over spending priorities, he questioned how Singareni could spend ₹10 crore on football activities, and demanded a transparent inquiry.
The BRS leaders concluded by warning that if the government fails to act immediately, the party would launch a large-scale agitation in support of Singareni workers
