Grand Conclusion of the All India 7th Prison Duty Meet
The All India 7th Prison Duty Meet, jointly organized by the Telangana Prisons Department and the Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D), New Delhi, concluded successfully in Hyderabad. The Valedictory Ceremony was graced by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar as the Chief Guest, along with Telangana State Minister for Revenue & Information Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, BPR&D Director General Alok Ranjan, Additional Director General Ravi Joseph Lokku, Telangana Prisons DG Dr. Soumya Mishra, and senior officials from various states and union territories.
During the event, 26 trophies and 40 medals were awarded across 22 competitive events. Telangana emerged as the best-performing state, winning a total of 17 trophies.
Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar emphasized that the true success of prison administration lies in transforming the lives of inmates so they can re-integrate into society. He said, “Prison administration is not limited to security but serves as a key platform for reform and rehabilitation.” He applauded the efforts of the Telangana Prisons Department for promoting competitions in areas such as cleanliness, health, education, sports, arts, and best practices.
The competitions included quiz contests, unarmed combat, first aid, computer technology, one-minute drill, model prison display, fine arts and music, and various sports such as basketball, volleyball, kabaddi, and athletic events like sprints and jumps. These activities aimed to showcase talent, promote interaction, and share best practices, ultimately fostering a more humane and effective prison management system.
Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar extended his heartfelt congratulations to all participants and winners, appreciating the successful organization of this large-scale event through the partnership of BPR&D and Telangana Prisons Department.
