Former Minister and BRS Party Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao addressed a press conference at the Assembly Media Hall, strongly criticizing the Congress government over the conduct of the recent Assembly sessions and several governance issues.

Harish Rao alleged that the Assembly sessions concluded without any clear direction and failed to provide clarity on the six guarantees promised by the government. He said the sessions were conducted merely as a formality to pass the budget and bills, without meaningful discussion on public issues.
He accused the Congress government of avoiding debates on people’s problems and abruptly ending the Assembly sessions to focus on election campaigning in Kerala. Despite BRS giving notices for short discussions on 19 public issues, he said the government did not allow debate on even a single issue.
The BRS leader further alleged that when corruption allegations against Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy were raised with evidence, the government resorted to diversionary tactics and suspended BRS MLAs to avoid discussion. He termed the suspensions as an attempt to pass key bills without opposition presence.
Harish Rao also criticized the language used by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and some Congress MLAs in the Assembly, calling it arrogant and inappropriate. He demanded that such remarks be referred to the Ethics Committee.
On the Kaleshwaram project, he strongly objected to comments made by Union Minister C. R. Patil, alleging that both BJP and Congress were working together to defame BRS. He claimed that central government reports, including the Economic Survey, and statements by State Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy themselves prove the success of the Kaleshwaram project.
He questioned how water continues to flow and irrigate lakhs of acres if the project had “collapsed,” citing water storage in Mallanna Sagar and irrigation in multiple districts as evidence of its functionality.
Harish Rao challenged BJP and Congress leaders to visit Telangana and witness the irrigation benefits firsthand, particularly in districts like Siddipet, Medak, and Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri. He stated that thousands of acres of crops are currently being irrigated with Kaleshwaram waters.
He also accused the government of failing to implement its promises, including financial assistance to women and welfare schemes for various sections such as farmers, unemployed youth, and marginalized communities. He alleged that funds for BC, SC, and ST welfare had not been properly allocated.
The BRS leader said that the opposition will continue to question the government both inside and outside the Assembly and will intensify its struggle against what he termed “anti-people policies,” under the leadership of K. Chandrashekar Rao.
He concluded by urging the government to release funds immediately for irrigation projects and not to “punish farmers” due to political differences.
