Hyderabad, August 29: Officials from the vigilance wing of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) seized 14 illegal mini submersible pump sets during raids in Bapu Nagar, SR Nagar, under the Khairatabad Zone on Friday.

According to a press release, officials conducted special inspections between 6 am and 7 am, during regular water supply hours. During the checks, they found several consumers using illegal pumps to draw water directly from the Water Board’s supply pipelines. Officials said the practice was resulting in low water pressure for neighbouring consumers.

The Water Board said attaching motors directly to supply pipelines reduces the amount of water available to other consumers and disrupts the overall distribution system. Action was taken against consumers found violating the rules.

HMWSSB has warned that inspections against the illegal use of motors will continue across the city. Officials also cautioned consumers that those found using unauthorised pump sets on water supply pipelines will face action.
