Black Magic Superstition Behind Falaknuma Murder, Seven Apprehended
Hyderabad: Falaknuma Police have solved the mystery behind the brutal murder of 53-year-old Mohd. Mehboob Ali, apprehending six accused persons and one juvenile in connection with the case.
The incident occurred on August 30, 2026, at around 9:30 pm, opposite Almas Hotel in Vattepally, Falaknuma. Police received information about a brutal attack on Mehboob Ali, a real estate businessman and resident of Fatima Nagar. He had suffered multiple knife injuries and was shifted to Princess Esra Hospital for treatment, where he later died while undergoing treatment.
A case was registered at Falaknuma Police Station under Crime No. 439/2026 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. During the investigation, police apprehended six accused persons and a juvenile on September 3, 2026.
According to police, the investigation revealed that the murder was allegedly linked to a superstitious belief about black magic. Police said the main accused, Mirza Mohsin Baig, suspected that Mehboob Ali had performed black magic on his mother, Tahera Begum, which he believed had caused her prolonged illness. He also allegedly suspected the deceased of being responsible for the death of his maternal uncle, Mohammed Khaleel.
Police said Baig shared his suspicions with his cousin Mohammed Imran Ahemad, who allegedly advised him to eliminate Mehboob Ali. Subsequently, Baig, Ahemad and four others, along with a juvenile, allegedly planned the murder.
On August 30, after allegedly receiving information about Mehboob Ali’s presence near Almas Hotel, the accused reportedly gathered at Ayaan Darbar Hotel, procured six knives and daggers, and travelled to the location on two Activa two-wheelers. They allegedly intercepted Mehboob Ali and attacked him with the weapons, causing multiple serious injuries to his head, chest, hands and other parts of the body.
Police seized two Activa two-wheelers, six knives/daggers and three mobile phones allegedly used in the commission of the offence. The six accused and the juvenile were produced before the court and sent to judicial custody.
