Central Team to Inspect New Airport Sites in Bhadradri Kothagudem on September 7

Hyderabad, September 1: A Central technical team will visit Telangana on September 7 to inspect four to five newly identified sites for the proposed airport in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.

The decision was announced after a meeting between Telangana Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao and Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Earlier, two proposed locations were found unsuitable for airport construction due to technical constraints. The newly shortlisted sites will be evaluated for their geographical features, climatic conditions, and overall technical feasibility.

Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu assured the Telangana government that the Centre would move forward with the airport project if the technical team’s report is favourable.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is expected to discuss the proposed airports at Mamnoor (Warangal) and Adilabad with the Union government on September 2.

The proposed airport in Bhadradri Kothagudem is expected to significantly improve connectivity to the region, including the renowned Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy Temple at Bhadrachalam, a major pilgrimage destination. The demand for an airport in the district has been pending for several years to enhance regional connectivity and support tourism and economic development.
