BJP Leaders Detained During Protest Over Fee Reimbursement Dues Near Telangana Assembly

Hyderabad: Tension prevailed near the Telangana Assembly on Monday as BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao, along with several senior BJP and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leaders, was detained by police while attempting to march towards the Assembly to demand the release of pending fee reimbursement dues.

According to BJP leaders, the party decided to march to the Assembly after police allegedly denied permission to hold a protest at Indira Park. Protesters gathered near the Assembly, raising slogans and urging the Congress government to clear fee reimbursement arrears, which the BJP claimed amount to ₹15,000 crore.

Ramchander Rao, who led the protest in support of students, was taken into custody by police and shifted to the Golconda Police Station. BJP State General Secretary N. Gautam Rao, State Chief Spokesperson N.V. Subhash, and BJYM State President Ganesh Kunde were also detained during the protest.

The BJP alleged that N.V. Subhash sustained injuries during the police action, while Ganesh Kunde reportedly fell ill. Several other BJP and BJYM leaders and workers were also detained as police prevented protesters from reaching the Assembly.

The BJP accused the Congress government of suppressing a peaceful protest and demanded the immediate release of pending fee reimbursement funds, stating that the delay is affecting the education of thousands of students. The government and police had not immediately responded to the BJP’s allegations.
