Khammam: August 30, For a group of agricultural labourers who had spent the day working under the scorching sun, Sunday became a memorable occasion when Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka made an unexpected visit to their fields on the outskirts of Rayannapeta village in Bonakal mandal of Khammam district.

During his whirlwind tour of the constituency, the Deputy Chief Minister stepped away from official protocol and walked into the fields to interact with women labourers who were preparing to have their lunch. Greeting them warmly, he spoke to them like a caring elder brother, enquiring about their lives, hardships and overall well-being.

“Are the government’s welfare schemes reaching your homes, mothers?” he asked, engaging in a heartfelt conversation without any formalities.

The women expressed delight at the Deputy Chief Minister’s visit and shared how various welfare initiatives of the state government had positively impacted their lives.

They said the government’s supply of fine rice had enabled their families to enjoy nutritious meals every day. “We are now able to cook and eat fine rice at home, and our children are also eating it happily,” they said.

Responding to the Deputy Chief Minister’s query about electricity bills, the women said they were no longer paying for household electricity. “We are not receiving even a single rupee electricity bill. The government is providing free electricity,” they said, describing it as a major financial relief.

The labourers also spoke about the benefits of the free bus travel scheme, recalling how it had helped them travel to Hyderabad for daily-wage work without spending on transportation. They said the savings had become an important source of support for their families.

Expressing satisfaction, the women said the welfare initiatives of the Indiramma People’s Government were bringing meaningful improvements to their lives.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said the Finance Department was ensuring the timely release of funds for every welfare scheme being implemented by the government. He emphasised that identifying people’s needs, addressing them effectively and improving their quality of life remained the primary responsibility of the People’s Government.
