Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy Slams Telangana Govt Over Hyderabad Issues, Fertilizer Shortage
Hyderabad, Aug 22:
Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Thursday paid rich tributes to journalist Shoaibullah Khan on his death anniversary, recalling his fearless fight against the atrocities of the Razakars and the Nizam’s rule through his writings in Imroze newspaper. “Despite threats to his life, Shoaibullah Khan sacrificed everything for Telangana’s liberation. The BJP, on behalf of Telangana people, offers homage to such a great soul,” he said at a media conference held at the BJP state office.
The Minister said the Centre has been officially celebrating Telangana Liberation Day on September 17 in Hyderabad ever since the BJP came to power. “This year too, the event will be organized grandly,” he announced.
Turning his criticism towards the state government, Kishan Reddy alleged that successive governments—first BRS and now Congress—had failed to provide basic amenities in Hyderabad. “Streetlights do not work even on main roads, drainage and drinking water systems are in disarray, and contractors are protesting as bills remain unpaid. Even in posh areas like Jubilee Hills, rainwater floods the streets,” he said. He accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who also holds the Municipal Administration portfolio, of neglecting civic issues while arresting BJP leaders who raise public problems.
On the employees’ front, the Union Minister charged that Congress had failed to honor its election promises on pending DAs, PRC implementation, Old Pension Scheme, and health cards. He extended BJP’s full support to the employees’ and teachers’ unions’ agitation beginning September 1.
Kishan Reddy also targeted the state government on the fertilizer issue, alleging that urea bags supplied by the Centre at a subsidized price of ₹266 were being sold to farmers at ₹400 due to black marketing and artificial scarcity. “Despite having 2.04 lakh tonnes in stock, the state government spread panic by claiming there was no supply. The Centre has ensured uninterrupted fertilizer availability for 11 years despite global crises,” he said.
Accusing Congress and BRS leaders of indulging in large-scale illegal land deals in Hyderabad, Kishan Reddy vowed that BJP would continue to fight for civic amenities and people’s rights. “The majority of Hyderabad’s people stand with BJP. We are ready to go to jail if necessary, but we will not stop fighting for the people,” he asserted.
