Hyderabad, August 31, 2026: The Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC), headed by Chairperson Dr. Justice Shameem Akther, has directed authorities to ensure strict food safety and hygiene measures at a BC Girls Gurukul School hostel in Bellampalli, Mancherial district.

The Commission took suo-motu cognizance of a July 24 report about suspected food poisoning among girl students. After examining the report submitted by the Mancherial Collector, the Commission noted that the affected students received medical treatment, recovered and were discharged. Medical evaluation did not establish food poisoning or any serious health complication.

The TGHRC directed the Collector to ensure that hostel authorities take proper care in the preparation and serving of food and strictly follow prescribed health, hygiene and food-safety standards to prevent similar incidents. With this recommendation, the Commission closed further proceedings in the case.
