Hyderabad, August 25, 2026: Ever wondered what life inside a prison feels like? The Telangana Prisons and Correctional Services Department is offering the public a unique opportunity to experience prison life through the “Telangana Jail Experience”, an immersive and supervised programme at the Chanchalguda Prison Complex.

The programme will be available from August 25 to September 30, allowing participants to spend several hours following a structured prison routine and experience the disciplined environment of a correctional facility.

Participants will be required to surrender their mobile phones and follow the prescribed schedule. They will wear prison uniforms, use prison-style plates and glasses, and receive the standard meals served to inmates.

The programme includes physical training, yoga, meditation, parade, work assignments and vocational activities such as tailoring, agriculture and cleaning. Participants will also be introduced to prison rules, correctional procedures and rehabilitation practices under supervision.

Those choosing the overnight option will be provided separate and secure accommodation for men and women. Participants may also experience high-security and dark-cell environments under strict supervision.

There are four booking options based on duration. The four-hour experience costs ₹500, the eight-hour option costs ₹750, the 12-hour experience is priced at ₹1,000, while the 24-hour experience costs ₹1,500.

The programme begins at 6 am and is open to individuals aged 18 years and above. Participants are required to maintain prison discipline, cooperate with staff, keep the premises clean and take part in the scheduled activities.
