Telangana Jagruti Office Commemorates Telangana Merger Day, Criticizes Distortion of History
Hyderabad, September 17 (Patriotic Views) – Telangana Jagruti Office in Banjara Hills held a program to celebrate Telangana Merger Day, hoisting the national flag and honoring freedom fighters of the armed peasant struggle, including M.K. Moinuddin, a veteran from the Janagam region who fought against landlords and oppressive rulers.
During the event, poet Kalvakuntla Kavitha highlighted the significance of September 17 as the day when Telangana merged with India and emphasized the sacrifices of people who opposed feudal and monarchical rule. The celebration also stressed that the armed peasant struggle of 1942, unique in world history, continues to be studied internationally as an example of people’s resistance.
The organizers criticized recent attempts by the BJP to politicize Telangana Merger Day, alleging that the party is distorting the state’s history, inciting religious tensions, and attempting to portray the struggle as a communal conflict rather than a fight against feudal oppression. The event also called on Centre and BJP leaders, including Revanth Reddy, to stop such propaganda that misrepresents Telangana’s democratic history.
Telangana Jagruti leaders reiterated that the struggle of Telangana’s people was against monarchy, landlords, and oppressive rulers—not against any community. They emphasized the need to preserve the state’s history and warned against attempts to diminish its significance by celebrating the day differently or undermining its legacy.
The program concluded with the Jagruti members reaffirming their commitment to protect Telangana’s heritage, oppose communal polarization, and continue honoring the bravery of freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the state’s integration.
