Karimnagar: 22 December (Patriotic Views) Telangana State DGP Dr. Jitender IPS inaugurated the new Bharosa Center at the Karimnagar Commissionerate on Sunday. The Bharosa Center, built with great prestige under the Women’s Safety Wing of Telangana Police, is located at New Kothapalli in Karimnagar. The event began with a warm welcome by Karimnagar Police Commissioner Abhishek Mohanti, who greeted the DGP with flowers. Following this, the DGP unveiled the plaque and formally opened the new building of the Bharosa Center, where he also inspected the rooms and facilities provided to support women victims.

Addressing the gathering, the DGP appreciated the construction of the center, which spans an area of 6,800 square meters on a 1,000-square-yard plot. He mentioned that the services at the Karimnagar Bharosa Center will be available starting Monday. Dr. Jitender explained that the Bharosa Centers are being set up across all commissionerates and districts in the state to provide a safe environment for women victims of sexual harassment and children subjected to inappropriate sexual behavior, away from police stations and hospitals.

The DGP highlighted that the establishment of Bharosa Centers has brought positive results in providing services to victims. He pointed out the increase in the conviction rate in sexual harassment cases. Hyderabad was the first city to set up a Bharosa Center, and currently, 27 districts have similar centers. These centers offer mental support, police assistance, medical help, legal services, financial aid, and more for the victims.

He also mentioned the implementation of a citizen feedback system to further enhance the quality of services provided. Dr. Jitender emphasized that the main objective of the Bharosa Centers is to ensure women’s safety.

The event was attended by Women Safety Wing DIG Rama Rajeshwari, Trainee IPS Yadav Vasundhara Phowrebi, Additional DCP Lakshmi Narayana, ACP Madhavi, Inspector Shrilata, SBI Bank officials, and other staff members.
