Telangana Cabinet Reshuffle: Revanth Reddy Likely to Meet AICC Leaders in Delhi on Sept 3
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is likely to visit Delhi on September 3 to meet AICC leaders and discuss the issue surrounding Minister Konda Surekha, according to party sources.
AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, who is currently on a foreign tour, is expected to return to Delhi on September 2. Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud and AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan are expected to meet Venugopal on September 3.
The meeting is likely to focus on the Congress disciplinary committee’s report on Konda Surekha, along with organisational and Cabinet-related matters. The committee has reportedly recommended her removal from the Cabinet over remarks made by her daughter, Konda Sushmita, against Revanth Reddy and the Congress party.
The Delhi meeting has also triggered speculation about a major Cabinet reshuffle. Two ministerial berths remain vacant, while changes in the portfolios of some existing ministers are also reportedly being considered.
If the high command approves the changes, the reshuffle could take place before the Telangana Legislature’s monsoon session begins on September 7. Otherwise, it may be considered after the session in the third week of September.
Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar is also reportedly seeking a Cabinet berth. If he is inducted, Revanth Reddy may consider appointing another Dalit legislator as Speaker.
