Strict Legislation Against Religious Hatred and Insult to Sacred Personalities Is an Urgent Need of the HourMaulana Mohammed Riyaz Ahmed Quadri Hussami Welcomes Telangana Government’s Proposed Resolution
Hyderabad:
Maulana Mohammed Riyaz Ahmed Quadri Hussami, Director of Riyaz Uloom and Riyaz Islamic School, Falaknuma, has welcomed the announcement made by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy during a Christmas programme regarding the introduction of a resolution in the State Assembly to take strict action against religious hatred and insulting, provocative, and indecent remarks against sacred personalities of all religions.
In his statement, Maulana Quadri Hussami described the announcement as highly welcome, positive, and far-reaching in its impact. He said that such measures are essential not only for the protection of religious personalities, values, and beliefs, but also play a crucial role in promoting peace, harmony, tolerance, and mutual respect in the country. He observed that religious hatred and hate speech are emerging as serious challenges for society, which cannot be effectively addressed without strong and effective legislation.
Emphasising the need for broader action, Maulana stated that such laws should not remain confined to State Assemblies alone. He urged that comprehensive, effective, and clear legislation should also be enacted by Parliament so that religious harmony and constitutional values are protected uniformly across the country. He added that in a multi-religious and multicultural nation like India, ensuring respect for all religions is the very essence of the Constitution.
Maulana further stressed that once such laws are enacted, police officials, the administration, and all concerned departments must be bound to implement them strictly and impartially. He cautioned that laws should not remain mere paperwork, but must produce tangible and positive results on the ground. Expressing concern, he noted that several laws in the past failed to achieve their objectives due to weak enforcement, which requires serious introspection.
He also thanked the organisations that made effective representations to the Chief Minister on this sensitive and important issue, specially acknowledging the role of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind and appreciating their efforts. Additionally, he congratulated the Karnataka Government for passing a similar law, describing it as a model and commendable step.
Maulana Mohammed Riyaz Ahmed Quadri Hussami also congratulated the central leadership of the Congress party, particularly Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge, for this courageous, wise, and positive initiative. He expressed hope that such steps in the future would further strengthen peace, brotherhood, religious tolerance, and constitutional values across the country.
