State Government to Introduce Telangana Education Policy Soon: CM Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad:
Hon’ble Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday announced that the State Government is in the process of formulating a unique Telangana Education Policy, on the lines of the National Education Policy, by constituting a committee comprising eminent education experts.
The Chief Minister made these remarks during a meeting with Rohit Kumar, Education Minister of Himachal Pradesh, who called on him at the Telangana Secretariat. During the interaction, CM Revanth Reddy briefed the visiting minister about the wide-ranging reforms introduced in Telangana’s education sector and the vision behind the Young India Integrated Residential Schools.
The Chief Minister explained that each integrated residential school is being developed on a sprawling 25-acre campus at an estimated cost of ₹200 crore, where students belonging to all sections of society—SC, ST, BC, and minorities—will study together under one roof, promoting inclusive and holistic education.
CM Revanth Reddy also informed the Himachal Pradesh Minister about the government’s proposal to introduce pre-primary education in government schools and to strengthen them to compete effectively with private institutions. He further revealed plans to provide free transportation facilities for pre-primary school children in rural areas, ensuring better access to early education.
The meeting also discussed the upgradation of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) into Advanced Training Centers (ATCs) and the proposal to establish ATCs in every constituency. The Chief Minister suggested that the Himachal Pradesh Education Minister visit the Mallepally ATC to gain first-hand insight into the initiative.
Impressed by the integrated residential school model, the Himachal Pradesh Minister expressed keen interest in the concept and requested a comprehensive report on the initiative. He lauded Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for bringing what he described as revolutionary reforms in the education sector and for his vision to strengthen government-run educational institutions.
Commissioner of Education Yogita Rana, Director of School Education Naveen Nicholas, CM’s Special Secretary Ajit Reddy, and senior officials from the Himachal Pradesh government were present during the meeting.
