Nirmal, Dec.14 (Abdul Majid): District Collector Abhilasha Abhinav on Sunday said that the second phase of the Gram Panchayat elections in Nirmal district is progressing smoothly.

The Collector, along with District Superintendent of Police Janaki Sharmila, conducted a surprise inspection of the polling centre at the Government Zilla Parishad High School in Dhani village of Sarangpur mandal. They reviewed the polling process booth-wise for sarpanch and ward member elections and sought details from the election officials.

The Collector directed officials to submit polling reports mandatorily once every two hours. She interacted with voters at the polling station and enquired about the facilities being provided. The arrangements at the counting hall were also inspected, and officials were instructed to ensure tight security until the completion of the election process.

Stating that the first phase of the elections was conducted successfully, the Collector appealed to all eligible voters to come forward and exercise their franchise.

District Panchayat Officer Srinivas, Special Officer Blageeh Ahmed, Tahsildar Sandhya Rani, MPDO Lakshmikanth Rao and other officials were present during the inspection.
