Sand Bazaar Launched to Ensure Direct Supply of Quality Sand to People Without Middlemen

Sangareddy District, Andole Constituency: Telangana Minister for Health and Medical Affairs, Damodar Rajanarasimha, inaugurated a Sand Bazaar on Tuesday at the Sangupet–Jogipet crossroads, established under the supervision of the Telangana State Mining Development Corporation (TGMDC).

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that providing quality sand at affordable prices to the people is a top priority of the government. To ensure transparency and to prevent the interference of middlemen, the government has initiated Sand Bazaars. Special rituals were also performed for the vehicles transporting sand.

The Minister announced that plans are underway to establish a Sand Bazaar every 20 kilometers in the district, including the Andole constituency, so that people can easily access sand nearby. The primary aim, he emphasized, is to ensure that beneficiaries of Indiramma housing schemes do not face any difficulties due to sand shortages.

Since there are no natural sand reaches in Sangareddy district, people previously had to purchase sand at high prices through middlemen. To address this issue, the government, through TGMDC, has set up Sand Bazaars. From now on, both housing beneficiaries and private builders will be able to purchase quality sand at lower prices, providing a permanent solution to the sand shortage problem.

The Minister warned that the menace of sand middlemen will be completely eradicated and strict action will be taken against anyone found acting as a broker in the sand supply process. He instructed officials of the Mining Corporation, Revenue, Housing, and Police departments to work in coordination to ensure proper sand supply.

He further directed authorities to make sure that there is no sand scarcity in the construction of Indiramma houses sanctioned by the government and that beneficiaries have continuous access to the required sand from Sand Bazaars. Officials also noted that the initiative would create employment opportunities for local laborers and make quality sand easily accessible to small contractors and masons.

The sand supply system will also be monitored online, and any illegal transportation will be detected immediately and acted upon.

The event was attended by TGMDC MD Bhavesh Mishra, Additional District Collector (Local Bodies) Chandrashekhar, District Mines Assistant Director Raghubabu, Jogipet Market Committee Chairman Jaganmohan Reddy, Markfed Director Sheri Jaganmohan Reddy, PACS Chairman Narender Reddy, along with officials from the Housing, Revenue, Police, and other departments.
