Hyderabad: The Congress government is depriving poor students of overseas education by not releasing Ambedkar Overseas Scholarship funds, alleged BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha. She strongly criticized the government for delaying the release of fee reimbursement funds, putting students’ futures at risk.

Speaking at a Zoom meeting with Telangana students studying abroad under the Ambedkar Overseas Scholarship scheme, MLC Kavitha stated, “During the BRS regime, KCR introduced this scheme with the noble intention of supporting underprivileged students. However, under CM Revanth Reddy, the Congress government is deliberately weakening it.” She emphasized that KCR’s vision was to ensure access to foreign education for poor students, but the Congress government is undermining this objective.

“The government has funds to pay contractors, but no money to clear students’ education dues?” she questioned, demanding an explanation for the delay in releasing the second phase of funds. She pointed out that many students are suffering due to the lack of scholarships and are left in uncertainty.

“We warn the government to wake up and immediately release all pending scholarship and fee reimbursement funds. Otherwise, we will expose its anti-student policies in the public domain and ensure the funds are released,” MLC Kavitha cautioned.
