Nirmal, Dec. 16(Abdul Majid): Congress Nirmal Assembly constituency in-charge Kuchadi Sri Hari Rao on Tuesday said the Gram Panchayat election results reflected the leadership strength and administrative efficiency of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

Addressing a media conference at the district headquarters, Sri Hari Rao said that in the first and second phases of the Gram Panchayat elections, Congress-backed candidates secured a clear advantage in the constituency. Of the 128 Gram Panchayat posts, 60 Congress-supported sarpanches and 19 Independents were elected, he said.

He challenged the BJP to disclose how many of the remaining 49 posts were actually won by their candidates. Criticising BJP Legislature Party leader and MLA Maheshwar Reddy’s claim that BJP-backed candidates had won 80 seats, Sri Hari Rao termed the statement “laughable” and accused the BJP of spreading misleading propaganda to attract State-level media attention.

He demanded that Maheshwar Reddy release the list of winning sarpanches to substantiate his claim and clarify how many seats were secured by the BJP and BRS.

Sri Hari Rao asserted that the Congress party had gained a decisive lead in the constituency and expressed confidence that the party would also perform strongly in the upcoming ZPTC, MPTC and municipal elections.

The meeting was attended by Nirmal–Sarangapur Agricultural Market Committee chairmen Soma Bheem Reddy and Abdul Hadi, along with several sarpanches, former sarpanches, former MPPs, former ZPTCs and mandal Congress presidents from various mandals.
