Nokia Partners with Vodafone Idea to Enhance 4G and 5G Networks in India

New Delhi, – Nokia has secured a three-year deal with Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) to deploy 4G and 5G equipment across India. This collaboration aims to modernize and expand VIL’s existing 4G network while rolling out 5G services in major cities, benefiting approximately 200 million customers.
CEO Akshaya Moondra emphasized that the 5G network will enhance connectivity and innovation across various sectors. The deployment will utilize Nokia’s AirScale portfolio, featuring energy-efficient technology and advanced equipment, including base stations and Massive MIMO radios.
Nokia’s President of Mobile Networks, Tommi Uitto, noted that this agreement continues their long-term partnership spanning over 30 years. Recently, VIL also finalized a $3.6 billion deal with Nokia, Ericsson, and Samsung to supply network equipment, marking the first phase of its $6.6 billion capex plan to expand 4G coverage and initiate 5G services.
