“More Speeches.. Less Money” BRS MLC Kavitha Slams Congress Budget

Hyderabad:19 March 2025 (Patriotic views) BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha strongly criticized the Telangana government’s budget presented on Wednesday, stating that “this budget is full of speeches and promises but lacks the necessary financial allocations for real development.” She accused the Congress government of merely repeating statements without backing them up with actual funds.
Congress Misleading on Loan Repayments
Referring to the budget figures, Kavitha pointed out that “over the past year, the Telangana government has repaid only ₹30,000 crore towards interest and loans, while Chief Minister Revanth Reddy falsely claimed in the Assembly that ₹1.40 lakh crore in debts had been cleared.”
She further highlighted that “as per the budget documents, Telangana has taken a total of ₹4.37 lakh crore in loans since its formation. However, CM Revanth Reddy is falsely alleging that former CM K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) took ₹7.5 lakh crore in debt.” Exposing the Congress government’s financial mismanagement, she revealed that “in the last one year alone, the Congress administration has borrowed ₹1.54 lakh crore, which contradicts their own claims.”
Congress Government Failing Farmers
Criticizing the Congress government for its mismanagement of the drought situation, Kavitha remarked, “Congress leaders are blaming high temperatures for dry fields, which is a shameful excuse. In reality, last year saw good rainfall, and reservoirs have sufficient water, but due to poor governance and lack of water management, farmers are suffering.”
She emphasized that under the BRS government’s ‘Mission Kakatiya’ initiative, KCR had successfully rejuvenated water bodies, ensuring adequate irrigation. However, “the Congress government’s inefficiency is now causing agricultural lands to dry up, and if this continues, the condition of farmers will worsen in April and May.”
Kavitha also accused the Congress government of failing to protect Telangana’s water resources, stating that “Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu is diverting 10,000 cusecs of water from the Krishna River, while the Telangana government remains a silent spectator.”
BRS MLCs Stage Protest
In response to the lack of sufficient funds for agriculture and farmers, BRS MLCs staged a protest in the Legislative Council premises. Addressing the protest, Kavitha stated, “How can the government fulfill its promises of welfare and development if it does not allocate adequate financial resources?”
A Realistic Budget is Needed: Kavitha
Calling the budget “unrealistic and insufficient,” Kavitha asserted that “for Telangana to progress genuinely, the government must implement a transparent financial strategy with complete funding for developmental projects.”
