Minister Ponnam Prabhakar Defends BRS Party’s Commitment to Auto Workers’ Welfare Amid Allegations

Hyderabad, December 18, 2024(Patriotic Views) – Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who holds the portfolios of Transport and BC Welfare, has responded firmly to recent allegations claiming that the BRS party is not genuinely concerned about the welfare of auto workers. Addressing the opposition’s criticisms, Minister Ponnam posed the question: “What actions have they taken in the last decade to support auto workers, if they truly care about their well-being?”
The minister rejected claims that the introduction of metro services has negatively impacted auto drivers, particularly the assertion that the provision of free metro travel for women has led to reduced auto usage. He clarified that while metro services have been introduced, buses continue to operate as usual, and auto services remain vital for people traveling to bus stands.
On the issue of a pre-election promise to provide 12,000 rupees annually to auto workers, Minister Ponnam acknowledged the government’s financial challenges this year, which led to the inability to fulfill the commitment. However, he assured that the government remains fully dedicated to the welfare of auto workers and will ensure future support.
The minister also took the opportunity to criticize political leaders who engage in theatrics, such as wearing uniforms or chains for attention, urging them to refrain from such tactics. He challenged the opposition to answer whether they had ever formally raised auto workers’ concerns with the Transport Minister.
Minister Ponnam emphasized that rather than political protests, the focus should be on facilitating a serious dialogue to address the issues faced by auto workers, calling for a more collaborative and constructive approach to solving their problems.
