Minister Jupally Krishna Rao has been thanked for officially announcing the dates of the Bathukamma festival well in advance, ensuring there is no confusion among the people. Ministers Seethakka, Konda Surekha, and others were also present on the occasion.

Bathukamma, the most celebrated festival in Telangana, is known for its cultural significance, traditional games, and devotion. It is not only a festival of flowers but also one that reveres lakes and water bodies, with women and children gathering at lake bunds to sing, dance, and celebrate.

Despite cultural changes, Bathukamma continues to live on through the stories of ancestors, making it a vibrant and meaningful tradition. The festival also honors elders, which is why it is fondly called the “Festival of Elders.” Bathukamma marks the beginning of the Dasara celebrations in Telangana.

Unlike material wealth, Bathukamma is seen as one of the most valuable inheritances passed down by ancestors. People stressed the need to preserve and promote the festival worldwide. The government’s active involvement in organizing Bathukamma programs was welcomed with joy. It was also highlighted that even passengers on flights are now able to learn about the festival, with references included in Indigo Airlines’ souvenir magazines.

Bathukamma showcases the uniqueness of Telangana’s flowers such as Thangedu, Katla, Gunugu, and Gummadi Puvvu, giving them a cultural identity. Citizens were urged to come together to safeguard this heritage.

On a political note, critics alleged that whenever investigations into corruption cases involving the KCR family take place, the TRS attempts to revive the Telangana sentiment. They questioned why the same sentiment was not remembered during liquor scams and pointed out that after removing the word “Telangana” from its party name, the BRS has no moral right to speak about Telangana sentiment.
