Minister Damodar Rajnarasimha Reviews Flood-Hit Areas in Medak District
State Health Minister Damodar Rajnarasimha visited flood-affected areas in Ramayampet, Medak district, and interacted with victims. He directed officials to carry out immediate relief operations for people living in low-lying areas.
The Minister noted that due to continuous heavy rainfall over the past two days, Ramayampet was completely inundated. He informed that around 60 people stranded in floods were rescued by the District Disaster Response Team, Revenue, Police, and Health Department officials. Two persons went missing, and the body of one flood victim was recovered, he said.
Minister Rajnarasimha assured that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is personally monitoring the situation and that the government is on full alert. He added that district authorities are working round the clock to protect the people. The Minister also held a telephonic review with the District Collector and SP regarding the relief measures being taken in flood-hit and low-lying areas.
Locals told the Minister that such heavy rainfall had not been witnessed in the last 50 years.
Former MLA Mynampally Hanumanth Rao, along with Minister Rajnarasimha, visited Kamareddy Road’s BC Colony in Ramayampet where several houses were submerged. Both leaders interacted with residents of flood-affected areas, listened to their grievances, and assured them of government support.
The Minister instructed revenue officials to shift residents of low-lying areas to safer locations and supply them with essential commodities, food, clothes, and bedsheets. He also inspected damaged bridges at Nizampet Malkacheruvu, Konapur, and Nandigama Road, as well as breaches at Sai Cheruvu.
Given the forecast of more heavy rains in the next two to three days, the Minister appealed to the public in flood-prone areas to cooperate with revenue, police, and disaster management teams. He advised people to remain in safe locations until the situation eases.
Minister Rajnarasimha also inspected fully and partially damaged houses and assured that necessary restoration measures would be taken. He said that roads damaged by floods would be repaired soon, and assessments of crop and property losses are being prepared by the Revenue Department.
Highlighting that nearly 200 mm of rainfall was recorded in certain mandals of Ramayampet, Kamareddy, and Medak, the Minister stressed the need for people to remain alert during such natural calamities.
“The government will extend full support and stand by the people,” he stated, adding that the Chief Minister, Ministers, and both state and district-level officials are constantly monitoring relief operations.
