Telangana Minister for Medical and Health, Damodar Rajanarasimha, inaugurated a cotton procurement centre under the aegis of the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) at the Cotton Mill in Medsangam, Munipally Mandal, Sangareddy district. The inauguration was held in the presence of District Collector Praveenya and senior CCI officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Rajanarasimha said the centre was opened to safeguard the interests of cotton farmers. He urged CCI officials to ensure that farmers receive the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and appealed to the farming community not to fall prey to middlemen.

The Minister added that this centre will benefit cotton farmers from Sadashivpet, Raikode, Narayankhed, Jogipet, and Vatpally mandals. CCI officials advised farmers to download the ‘Kapas Kisan’ mobile app to avail MSP and related benefits.

CCI officials briefed the Minister that during the 2024–25 kharif season, the Corporation had procured 3.8 lakh quintals of cotton and disbursed ₹280 crore to farmers.

Minister Rajanarasimha directed officials to take all necessary measures to protect the welfare of cotton farmers, ensuring fair prices and timely procurement. On this occasion, free jowar seeds were distributed to farmers as part of the support initiative.

Senior CCI Commercial Officer Varun, District Agriculture Officers, and several local farmers were also present at the event.
