KTR Slams Revanth Reddy Govt Over Flood Mismanagement, Demands Immediate Relief for Victims
BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao strongly criticized the Congress government in Telangana for its “gross negligence” in handling the ongoing flood crisis, comparing CM Revanth Reddy’s approach to “Nero playing the fiddle while Rome burned.”
Touring flood-affected areas in Sircilla and Kamareddy districts today, KTR accused the government of putting lives at risk by failing to issue timely alerts even as one lakh cusecs of water was released into the Manair River. He alleged that helicopters belonging to the state were diverted for Bihar Congress election campaigns, delaying rescue operations, while Navy helicopters eventually rescued five people stranded in Narmal village.
KTR demanded ₹25 lakh compensation for every life lost, ₹25,000 per acre for crop damage, and Indiramma houses for families who lost their homes. He also urged the government to immediately shift low-lying residents to relief camps, ensuring food, safe drinking water, and medical services.
Lashing out at the CM, KTR said:
“While floods are devastating Telangana, Revanth Reddy is busy reviewing Musi beautification and Olympic plans.”
“The government failed to make monsoon preparedness, ignoring IMD warnings of heavy rains.”
“This is not the time for politics—saving lives must be the top priority.”
KTR, however, lauded district collectors, SPs, and media personnel for their dedication, saying their round-the-clock efforts helped reduce casualties. He also appreciated BRS cadres who are distributing food, drinking water, and planning to set up medical camps in flood-hit areas.
During his visit, KTR inspected the swelling waters of Upper Manair at Mallareddypet bridge in Sircilla and attempted to reach Kamareddy. However, he was forced to turn back after Palvoncha Vagu overflowed, cutting off road connectivity.
He reiterated that both the state and the Centre must act swiftly, warning that more heavy rains are expected over the next four days.
