KTR Dares CM Revanth to Sit on Hunger Strike for BC Quota at Jantar Mantar

BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) launched a sharp attack on the Congress government in the Telangana Assembly, accusing Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of lacking sincerity on the issue of 42% reservations for Backward Classes (BCs).
“If Revanth Reddy is truly committed to BC empowerment, he should sit on an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in Delhi until the BC Bill is passed. This is not about seeking appointments, but about proving dedication,” KTR said, challenging the CM during the debate on the Panchayati Raj Amendment Bill.
Drawing a parallel with the Telangana movement, he recalled how former CM K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) had declared he would not return from Delhi until Telangana statehood was achieved. “Revanth must show the same kind of determination if he is serious about BC reservations,” KTR remarked.
The BRS leader highlighted KCR’s past initiatives, stating that he was the first leader to demand a separate OBC Welfare Ministry in 2004 and that the BRS had consistently passed Assembly resolutions for caste census and OBC reservations. “Whenever we had the chance, we stood for justice to BCs and weaker sections,” he asserted.
Criticizing the Congress, KTR said, “How can people trust a party that changes its stand on BC reservations five times? This is pure political posturing. If Congress and BJP are serious, let them bring a constitutional amendment in Parliament — only that can ensure permanent justice to BCs.”
Reiterating BRS’s support, he added: “We back the demand for 42% BC quota. But laws should be made carefully without loopholes, otherwise they will fail under judicial scrutiny. Declarations alone are not enough — dedication is what truly matters.”
