K. Kavitha Writes to Singareni Coal Workers: “I Will Always Stand by You”

Hyderabad – Former MLC and BRS leader K. Kavitha addressed a heartfelt letter to the Singareni coal mine workers across the four erstwhile districts of Telangana, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve them as the Honorary President of Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangham (TBGKS) for the past ten years.

Kavitha recalled that she was unanimously elected as the Honorary President of TBGKS in 2015 during a general body meeting at Kothagudem, attended by over 1,000 members from 11 areas. She said that, during her tenure, she worked as a sister to every worker’s family, fighting for their welfare and securing several benefits.

She highlighted major achievements during her leadership, including the revival of dependent jobs in Singareni through compassionate appointments, providing employment to 19,463 youth, ensuring Telangana Increment for coal workers after state formation, interest payments on housing loans above ₹10 lakh, free electricity and AC facility in quarters, and a tenfold hike in matching grant. She also introduced fee reimbursement for children of coal workers admitted to premier institutes like IITs and IIMs, declared a paid holiday on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, sanctioned optional holidays for Sankranti, Ramzan, and Christmas, and extended corporate medical benefits to workers’ parents.

Kavitha alleged that political conspiracies were being hatched to weaken the unity of coal workers by removing her from the honorary president post. She stated that, despite the developments, she would continue to stand by every worker family as a member of their household, irrespective of her official position.

“Whether I hold the post of Honorary President or not, I will always remain with the workers. Over the past decade, I have served as your representative and will continue to fight for your welfare in the future as well. I assure you that I will stand with you during every challenge,” Kavitha affirmed in her letter.

She also congratulated newly elected TBGKS Honorary President, Minister Koppula Eshwar, but noted that the election was conducted at the BRS party office, raising concerns of political influence and violation of labor laws
