K Kavitha Raises Concerns Over Minority Issues in Legislative Council, Demands Minority Minister

Hyderabad, December 19, 2024: Patriotic Views: In a thought-provoking speech in the Telangana Legislative Council, BRS member K Kavitha highlighted pressing issues faced by minorities and questioned the government’s commitment to fulfilling promises made to them. She raised concerns over the absence of a Minority Minister in the state cabinet and demanded clarity on various minority-related initiatives.
K Kavitha questioned the delay in providing honorariums to religious leaders such as imams, muezzins, priests, and granthis, a promise made by the government. She remarked, “The response from the government has been incomplete. I want to know when this promise will be fulfilled.”
She also sought clarification on the allocation of ₹10,000 crore under the Minority Sub-Plan. Furthermore, she questioned why the promise of providing financial assistance of ₹1.6 lakh and one tola of gold for the marriage of poor minority girls remains unfulfilled.
Kavitha expressed strong objections to the lack of a Minority Minister in the state cabinet, calling it unprecedented in Telangana’s history. She urged the government to appoint a minority representative, suggesting the inclusion of Aamir Bhai from the Council or another qualified member. “The absence of a Minority Minister is like a crown missing from Telangana’s head. Given our Ganga-Jamuni culture, representation of Muslims is essential,” she asserted.
Kavitha urged the Chairman, Sukender Reddy, to allow equal time for all members to speak, pointing out that ministers are being given extended speaking slots, while other members are being curtailed.
Responding to opposition criticism, Kavitha defended the achievements of CM KCR’s 10-year administration, stating, “The people know the reality. The accomplishments of our government speak for themselves, unlike the empty promises of the opposition.”
This speech serves as a strong reminder of the government’s obligations towards minorities, as Kavitha advocated for their rights and representation with vigor and determination.
