Jamaat-e-Islami Hind leaders meet Shabbir Ali, discuss Wakf Bill, communal harmony

Hyderabad 21 November (Patriotic Views) President (Amir) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) and Vice President of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), Syed Sadathullah Hussaini, accompanied by Ijtema organiser Abdul Jabbar Siddique and JIH Telangana General Secretary Mohammed Azharuddin, visited the residence of Telangana Government Advisor (SC, ST, BC & Minorities), Mohammed Ali Shabbir, in Jubilee Hills on Wednesday. The visit was to express gratitude to Shabbir Ali and the State Government for their support and facilities provided during the successful organisation of JIH’s three-day 5th All-India Members Conclave in Hyderabad.
During the meeting, the JIH leaders discussed various pressing issues, including the proposed Wakf Amendment Bill, challenges in the education sector, and the rise of divisive politics. They shared details of the resolutions passed during the conference, which saw the participation of over 10,000 delegates. Concern was expressed over the increasing communal tensions in the country, and discussions were held on strategies to counter hate and promote unity. The delegation also informed Shabbir Ali about an upcoming conference JIH would be hosting in Bengaluru soon.
Mohammed Ali Shabbir concurred with the JIH leaders on the importance of collective efforts to strengthen national unity and uphold secularism through meaningful dialogue. He pointed out that the Congress party, particularly through the objections raised by Rahul Gandhi, played a key role in ensuring that the controversial Wakf Amendment Bill was referred to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). Shabbir Ali emphasised that the Congress party firmly believes in respecting religious freedom and refrains from interfering in people’s religious practices. He added that under the leadership of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the party has been maintaining strong secular credentials in Telangana.
Shabbir Ali assured the JIH leaders of continued support for all initiatives aimed at promoting peace, national integration, and secularism, reiterating the need for sustained efforts to counter communalism and foster harmony.
