Hyderabad Rising in Biotech, Pharma & MedTech Innovation: CM Revanth Reddy at Biodesign Innovation Summit

Hyderabad, Sunday: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy today assured complete government support for innovation in the Biotech, Pharma and Medical Technology sectors, declaring Hyderabad as the emerging hub of Life Sciences in India.

Speaking at the Biodesign Innovation Summit held at AIG Hospital, the Chief Minister said Hyderabad has successfully moved from being a center of manufacturing to becoming a hub of innovation. He stressed that the state government will be a proactive partner in supporting end-to-end medical product innovation through BioDesign.

Highlighting Hyderabad’s unique ecosystem, he said the city has a strong synergy of academic institutions, industry partnerships and skill development initiatives, resulting in a highly skilled workforce. Advocating for indigenous innovation to meet India’s medical needs, he announced that innovators and researchers will have access to Telangana’s historical medical data, while ensuring strict data privacy safeguards.

“For many years, our best minds were solving problems of other countries. That was good, but now it is time to use our intelligence to solve India’s challenges and help our people,” he said.

The Chief Minister congratulated AIG Hospitals Chairman Dr. Nageshwar Reddy for initiating research in MedTech using the BioDesign methodology, which aims at identifying unmet clinical needs and translating them into practical healthcare solutions by innovating, validating clinically, and scaling through manufacturing.

He underlined that Telangana has become a preferred hub for diagnostic devices, imaging technologies, implants, surgical equipment and digital health solutions. The state has already established India’s largest Medical Devices Park at Sultanpur, with more than 60 global and domestic companies operating with world-class infrastructure for research, prototyping, testing and manufacturing.

Looking ahead, Revanth Reddy projected that Telangana will become a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047. Commending the contributions of local startups, MSMEs and companies, he said this vibrant ecosystem makes Hyderabad a unique global destination for Life Sciences innovation.
