Hyderabad on High Alert as CM Revanth Reddy Directs Safety Measures Amid Heavy Rains
Hyderabad: Following the heavy rains across Telangana, including Hyderabad city, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has placed the entire state administration on high alert. The Chief Minister instructed officials to evacuate residents from old and vulnerable houses and shift them to safer locations.
The CM also directed the Energy Department to take all necessary precautions to ensure uninterrupted power supply and safety of devotees visiting Ganesh pandals during the ongoing festivities. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HYDRAA), Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Fire Services, and Police wings have been asked to coordinate closely to avoid inconvenience to the public during the rains.
In view of the heavy inflows in low-lying causeways, culverts, rivers, and streams, the Chief Minister ordered officials to stop vehicular movement in flood-prone areas. He further directed the Irrigation Department to take precautionary measures at ponds and other water bodies that are vulnerable to breaches due to rising inflows.
Highlighting the risk of epidemics, Revanth Reddy instructed sanitation staff of Municipal Corporations, Municipalities, and Gram Panchayats to remain on high alert and ensure the regular removal of stagnant water. The Medical and Health Department has been asked to stockpile adequate medicines in hospitals and organise medical camps in flood-affected areas to curb the spread of communicable diseases.
