Siddipet: Former Ministers T. Harish Rao and V. Srinivas Goud, along with local leaders, participated in the unveiling of the statue of the great warrior Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud at Gonipally village, Siddipet, organized under the auspices of the Kaudinya Youth Association.

Speaking on the occasion, former minister Harish Rao said that the history of many great warriors of united Andhra Pradesh has remained hidden. The heroic struggles of Telangana’s brave fighters such as Sarvai Papanna Goud, Chakali Ilamma, and Komuram Bheem were never properly brought before the people.

He stated that during the BRS government’s tenure, the history of Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud was included in school curricula, and official programs were organized to commemorate his birth and death anniversaries.

Harish Rao highlighted that Cambridge University in London studied Papanna Goud’s history and published a book, and his stone statue has been installed in the Victoria Museum, London. “Britain recognized his greatness, but sadly, our own country has yet to give him his due recognition,” he remarked.

He further said that Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud was a valiant warrior who revolted against oppressive rulers exploiting the poor, captured 20 forts, and hoisted his flag atop the Golconda Fort.

Describing Papanna as a symbol of self-respect and courage for Telangana Bahujans, Harish Rao added that his struggle for political and social equality for marginalized communities will always be remembered in history.
