Education a Top Priority for Telangana: Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar

Hyderabad, September 2, 2025 – Education continues to remain the top priority for the Telangana government, said Adluri Laxman Kumar, Minister for SC, ST, Minorities, Disabled and Senior Citizens Welfare.

On Tuesday, the Minister inaugurated the Telangana Minorities Residential Junior College and Hostel for Boys at Asifnagar, constructed at a cost of ₹8.75 crore with joint funding from the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs and the Telangana state government. The facility will provide modern education and accommodation to 160 students.

Highlighting the government’s focus, Minister Laxman Kumar said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, minority residential schools, junior colleges, and hostels are being rapidly completed across the state. He noted that while 80% of the works are already finished, the remaining 20% require about ₹40 crore, for which the state government is paying special attention.

The Minister, along with Minorities Welfare Secretary B. Shafiullah and TGMREIS Chairman Faheem Qureshi, has already taken this issue to the attention of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers.

He further stated that across 33 districts, under the Young India concept, ₹200 crore is being spent on strengthening SC, ST, and Minority Residential Schools, with an integrated plan to provide education from primary to degree level on the same campus. He also pointed out that the government is allocating ₹1,000 crore for the development of Osmania University, which will stand as a milestone in its 100-year history and guide the youth towards new opportunities.

Appreciating the efforts of teachers, the Minister congratulated minority residential school students for achieving a 98% pass rate in Class 10 exams. He added that, considering complaints about food quality, the government has sanctioned ₹7 crore to replace aluminum utensils with stainless steel ones, and the same system will soon be extended to minority residential schools. He also assured that the government is committed to increasing diet charges and scholarships despite financial constraints, underscoring its priority for minority students’ education.

“By prioritizing education and developing residential schools and universities with corporate-level facilities, the government is ensuring a strong future for every student in Telangana. This marks a new chapter for the state’s youth,” the Minister said.

The event was attended by Nampally MLA Majid Hussain, TGMREIS Chairman Faheem Qureshi, Minorities Welfare Secretary B. Shafiullah, Hyderabad District Collector Hari Chandana Dasari, RDO Ramakrishna, Deputy Secretary Zubeda, GHMC Corporator Jafar Khan, Minority Welfare Officer Elias Ahmed, principals, teachers, and other officials.
