Collector Sikta Patnaik Inspects PHC and Indiramma Housing Works in Marikal

Nagarkurnool – District Collector Sikta Patnaik on Thursday inspected the Government Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Marikal mandal headquarters. She visited the medicines storeroom, examined the stock of various drugs, and enquired with the medical officer about the frequency of supply and whether medicines were being dispatched to the seven sub-centres under the PHC. She also verified the medicines list.

Later, the Collector entered the vaccination room and inspected the vaccines stored in the refrigerator. Upon noticing expired medicines left outside, she expressed displeasure and instructed staff to pack them properly in a box and send them through the bio-waste vehicle. She further inspected the laboratory, injection/dressing room, maternity ward, and in-patient ward. The Collector enquired about the number of deliveries conducted monthly and verified details of a pregnant woman undergoing treatment in the ward.

She directed officials to make the unused toilets in the premises functional, clear weeds around the waiting area for patient attendants, and maintain cleanliness across the hospital campus.

Inspection of Indiramma Housing Works

The Collector also visited Shanti Nagar Colony on Madwar Road to inspect the progress of Indiramma housing constructions. She expressed dissatisfaction after noticing that one of the two houses had not even completed the basement stage. Out of 65 sanctioned houses in Marikal mandal, only 11 had reached the basement level, and that too incomplete. She warned that if such negligence continued, approvals for unfinished houses would be cancelled.

When officials cited rains and shortage of sand as reasons for the delay, the Collector questioned what work had been done before the recent rains. She instructed Tahsildar Ram Koti to bring the sand issue to the notice of the Additional Collector and resolve it immediately instead of making excuses.

The Collector reminded officials that the state government is implementing the Indiramma Housing Scheme with ₹5 lakh assistance—an initiative unparalleled in the country—and said such negligent attitude was unacceptable. Expressing strong displeasure, she ordered officials to expedite construction works, noting that Marikal mandal was at the bottom in terms of progress, with only 251 sanctioned houses far from completion
