CM’s Street Language an Assault on Democracy, Says Dr. Sravan Dasoju
Hyderabad, December 27, 2025:
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Legislative Council Member Dr. Sravan Dasoju strongly criticised Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for what he termed as “vulgar street language and authoritarian conduct,” stating that it amounts to a direct attack on democratic values and the spirit of village self-governance.
Reacting to the Chief Minister’s remarks made during a meeting with newly elected sarpanches and ward members at Kodangal, Dr. Sravan Dasoju said the use of abusive, threatening and violent language by a constitutional authority was unprecedented and deeply shameful in Telangana’s democratic history.
“The Chief Minister is expected to guide local self-governments on constitutional values, decentralisation of power and development. Instead, what Telangana witnessed was a training camp for abuse and intimidation,” he remarked, questioning whether the government believes in Gram Swaraj or in a “rule of intimidation.”
Dr. Sravan Dasoju pointed out that under the 73rd Constitutional Amendment, village panchayats are empowered with 29 subjects, along with funds, functions and functionaries. Instead of educating elected representatives on these responsibilities, the Chief Minister resorted to crude and threatening expressions, reflecting a steep decline in governance standards.
He further questioned whether sarpanches are being treated as public servants or as tools to settle political vendettas.
Taking strong exception to the Chief Minister’s remarks about K. T. Rama Rao, Dr. Sravan Dasoju said that mocking overseas work experience as “cleaning toilets and washing dishes” was an insult to the dignity of labour. “Those who rise through hard work understand the value of labour; those who grow through intimidation and blackmail never will,” he said.
He also accused the Chief Minister of double standards, alleging that while expressing jealousy over KTR’s education in Andhra Pradesh, the government was allegedly facilitating land acquisition from tribal farmers in Lagacherla for the benefit of pharmaceutical interests linked to the CM’s family. He questioned the morality of jailing innocent tribal farmers and misusing public funds for personal entertainment, including foreign sports events.
Dr. Sravan Dasoju described the language used by the Chief Minister against former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao at a public event, in the presence of school children, as “disgusting and a sign of political and moral decline.” He said a Chief Minister should teach children patriotism, constitutional values and vision—not hatred and abuse.
Reviewing the last 24 months of governance, Dr. Sravan Dasoju termed it a period of “economic destruction and licensed loot.” He cited issues such as the RR Tax impacting real estate, alleged liquor license irregularities, the Musi project involving ₹1.5 lakh crore, Future City land dealings, environmental damage around HCU lands, and alleged misuse of ₹200 crore under the Miss World event, asking whether questioning these amounted to a crime.
Highlighting achievements under the BRS regime, he said per capita income rose from ₹1.24 lakh to ₹3.17 lakh, GSDP increased from ₹4 lakh crore to ₹15 lakh crore, and agricultural production jumped from 68 lakh tonnes to 3.5 crore tonnes. Welfare initiatives such as Rythu Bandhu, drinking water projects, uninterrupted power supply and irrigation schemes were cited as evidence of development. “KCR built Telangana as a Builder; Revanth Reddy is reducing it to a Broker,” he alleged.
Dr. Sravan Dasoju also questioned why the ruling party hesitates to contest ZPTC and MPTC elections with party symbols despite losing over 6,000 supporters in sarpanch elections. Warning against underestimating silence, he said it was “the calm before a storm,” and asserted that once KCR speaks, public anger will drown the government’s rhetoric.
Concluding, he said the failure to implement six guarantees, delay in Rythu Bandhu and farm loan waiver has angered the people. “Change your language and your governance now, or the people will rewrite your destiny through their votes,” he warned.
