CM Revanth Reddy Unveils Ambitious Education Reforms at AVN Leafield Global School, Ibrahimpatnam
Ibrahimpatnam, April 3:
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy outlined a transformative vision for the state’s education system while addressing a gathering at AVN Leafield Global School in Ibrahimpatnam.
The Chief Minister described the campus as a model aligned with his “brainchild” initiative — Young India Integrated Schools — aimed at delivering world-class education through government institutions.
Announcing a major expansion plan, he said that the government is establishing Young India Integrated Schools in 100 constituencies across the state. These institutions will be developed over 25 acres each, with a built-up area of 5 to 6 lakh square feet, accommodating around 2,500 students per campus, with a total investment of ₹20,000 crore. He added that more schools will be set up in the second phase.
Highlighting the importance of strengthening public education, the Chief Minister stated that the government is spending approximately ₹1.08 lakh per student annually. Despite this, he noted a disparity, pointing out that while 18 lakh students study in 26,000 government schools, nearly 33 lakh students are enrolled in 11,000 private schools, calling for introspection on the challenges facing public education.
Addressing concerns about employment in the era of Artificial Intelligence, he warned that traditional white-collar jobs may decline and emphasized the need to promote blue-collar and skill-based employment. “Many students graduate with certificates but lack practical skills,” he said, stressing the importance of quality technical education.
The Chief Minister also revealed that nearly 1.10 lakh engineering students graduate every year in the state, underlining the urgency of aligning education with industry needs.
As part of reforms, the government plans to establish Telangana Public Schools offering education from nursery to Class 12 with a strong focus on quality. He also announced welfare measures such as providing breakfast and lunch to students in government schools, along with transportation facilities.
In the field of sports, the government is setting up a Telangana Sports University with the goal of winning gold medals in the 2034 Olympics. He highlighted the government’s support for athletes, noting that boxer Nikhat Zareen and cricketer Mohammed Siraj have been appointed as DSPs in recognition of their achievements.
Additionally, he announced the establishment of the Young India Skills University, chaired by industrialist Anand Mahindra, to promote industry-relevant skills among youth.
Revanth Reddy emphasized that education is the key to overcoming poverty and achieving dignity and recognition in society. “Telangana is committed to building a future where every child has access to quality education and opportunities,” he said.
