Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi remains a great inspiration for the youth of the country, who sacrificed his life for the integrity of the nation. He was addressing a public gathering in the city.

The Chief Minister recalled that the idea of linking governance with technology was first introduced by Rajiv Gandhi. The introduction of computers in India, revolutionary reforms in the telecom sector, and granting voting rights to young citizens at the age of 18 were all part of his visionary leadership.

He added that Rajiv Gandhi was also the leader who provided reservation for women in local bodies. “Today, we are drawing strength from the same vision to drive Telangana’s economic and social progress. The foundation of Hyderabad’s Hi-Tech City was also laid under Rajiv Gandhi’s inspiration,” he said.

Revanth Reddy further stated that providing 42% reservation to BC communities, sub-categorization of SCs, and welfare-driven governance are extensions of that vision. He urged the youth of the nation to consider Rajiv Gandhi as their role model.

The Chief Minister declared that their mission will not rest until Rahul Gandhi becomes the Prime Minister. He also proposed that just as Rajiv Gandhi gave 18-year-olds the right to vote, a constitutional amendment should be brought to allow 21-year-olds to contest Assembly elections.

Concluding his speech, he said: “For the fulfillment of Rajiv Gandhi’s dreams, it is essential for Rahul Gandhi to become the Prime Minister, and we will continue our struggle until this goal is achieved.”
