Hyderabad, August 27, 2026: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday conducted a surprise inspection of the ongoing Mir Alam Tank Iconic Bridge project in Hyderabad and reviewed the progress of construction and development works.

During the visit, the Chief Minister inspected the project site and oversaw the ongoing works around the lake from a sky lift. The project is being executed under the aegis of the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL).

2.65-km Cable-Stayed Bridge

The proposed bridge, Hyderabad’s second cable-stayed bridge, will stretch approximately 2.65 km across Mir Alam Tank and will have a width of 22.2 metres. The project is expected to improve connectivity, ease traffic congestion and promote tourism in the southern parts of Hyderabad.

The bridge will begin near National Highway 44 at Mir Alam Tank and extend up to Chintalmet Road near Mir Alam Park. Entry and exit ramps are planned near King’s Colony–Shastripuram Road and Mir Mahmood Pahadi Road.

Rs 430-Crore Project

The iconic bridge project is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 430 crore, with completion targeted for late 2027. The wider development plan includes approach roads, modern street lighting, beautification works and restoration of the Mir Alam lake.

The project is expected to connect Shastripuram with Chintalmet Road, strengthening road connectivity while adding a major tourism attraction to Hyderabad’s landscape.

Mir Alam Tank, located south of the Musi River, was named after Mir Alam Bahadur, the former Prime Minister of the erstwhile Hyderabad State. The historic lake once served as a major source of drinking water for Hyderabad before the construction of Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar.

The Chief Minister’s inspection comes as the Telangana government continues to accelerate infrastructure and development works under its broader Musi Riverfront development programme.
