Central Government Organizes Grand Telangana Liberation Day Celebrations at Secunderabad Parade Grounds
September 17, 2025 | Secunderabad (Patriotic Views) On the occasion of Telangana Liberation Day – 2025, the Central Government organized a grand and historic event at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad. The event was graced by the presence of the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who served as the Chief Guest, and paid homage at the Amar Veer Stupa.
During the ceremony, the National Flag was unfurled by Rajnath Singh, followed by a Guard of Honour. He also paid tribute to the great leader Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for his pivotal role in integrating Hyderabad into independent India.
Several dignitaries attended the event, including Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, BJP Telangana State President N. Ramchander Rao, Parliament Member Eetala Rajender, and other leaders. The occasion also witnessed the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Tourism, CRPF DG Gyanendra Pratap Singh, former Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, legislators, officers of CRPF and CSF, artists, students, youth, and local representatives.
During his speech, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy highlighted the historic significance of Telangana Liberation Day. He reminded the public how, on September 17, 1948, the Indian Army declared war on the Nizam’s rule and liberated Hyderabad from the tyrannical regime. He condemned the atrocities committed by the private army of the MIM (Razakars) under Kasim Razvi, which included looting villages, committing mass murders, and assaulting Hindu women.
Minister Reddy emphasized that despite India’s independence in 1947, parts of Telangana were merged with Karnataka and Maharashtra. The government’s responsibility is to ensure the correct history of Telangana Liberation Day is taught in schools and officially commemorated, rather than ignored or distorted by political parties with vested interests.
He strongly criticized those political parties who, out of fear of the MIM, deliberately hid the truth of Telangana’s liberation, the sacrifices of thousands of martyrs, and the aspirations of Telangana’s people.
Minister Reddy announced that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government has taken the historic decision to officially organize Telangana Liberation Day celebrations, despite the state government’s long-standing neglect. He praised PM Modi for his dedicated service, highlighting that Modi has worked tirelessly for the development and unity of India without taking a single day off for the past 11 years.
He also extended his wishes on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, further calling upon all citizens to strive for Telangana’s and India’s progress.
Moreover, Minister Reddy paid tribute to the brave family members of Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who also fought during the Hyderabad liberation struggle under the Indian Army’s banner.
The event stood as a powerful reminder of Telangana’s struggle against the oppressive Nizam regime and the sacrifices made by countless martyrs for freedom. The gathering concluded with calls for preserving Telangana’s culture, unity, and the correct historic narrative for future generations.
