Cancer Day Care Centers in Every District of Telangana – Revolutionary Government Decision

Patriotic Views – 09 September 2025

Sangareddy, Telangana: In a revolutionary move to strengthen healthcare services in Telangana, the government has announced the establishment of Cancer Day Care Centers in every district of the state. These centers were virtually inaugurated by the Minister of Medical and Health Department, Damodar Rajanarsimha, from Sangareddy Medical College across 34 Government General Hospitals (GGH).

The government is taking significant steps to prevent and control cancer. During the inauguration of the Cancer Day Care Center, Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha revealed the state government’s commitment to implementing a special strategy for cancer control by setting up dedicated centers in every district. As part of this plan, 34 mobile screening vehicles will also be deployed to provide easy access to early detection services at the grassroots level.

Medical experts have warned that cancer is one of the most dangerous non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and, if not detected early, poses a severe risk to patients’ lives. Officials highlighted that lack of awareness and delayed diagnosis have been the major challenges in the state so far. To address these gaps, the government will provide diagnostic tests to every family through mobile screening units.

Currently, specialized cancer departments with 80 beds are operational in prominent hospitals like NIMS and MGM. In the coming months, advanced Day Care Centers equipped with modern radiation bunkers will also be inaugurated in Warangal, Sangareddy, Khammam, and Mahabubnagar districts. The primary objective of these centers is to ensure that patients receive treatment in the morning and return home by evening, significantly reducing their financial burden.

The Chief Minister is giving special attention to this initiative. The government has appointed the renowned expert Dr. Noori Dattatreya as “Advisor – Cancer Elimination”, to make his expertise available for the benefit of Telangana’s population.

At the same time, the government is also creating new opportunities in the nursing sector. With the aim of providing nursing officers in every village, 3,000 students are admitted annually to nursing courses. Telangana currently has 35 B.Sc. Nursing Colleges and 183 GNM Nursing Colleges. Students are provided international-standard training, including German language courses, to open global career opportunities.

Health Department officials stated:
“A combination of awareness, early screening, and prompt treatment is critical for cancer control. The Telangana government is moving forward with a special plan focusing on these key areas. This effort will make the state a model not only in India but across the world.”

As part of public health protection, the Cancer Day Care Centers and mobile screening vehicles to be established in every district are set to become milestones in Telangana’s medical development.
