BRS MLAs Protest Over Lagacherla Issue, KTR Slams Government
Hyderabad: 16-DEC-2024 (Patriotic Views) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLAs staged a strong protest over the Lagacherla issue, with the party’s working president, K. T. Rama Rao (KTR), launching a scathing attack on the Congress-led state government for its alleged oppressive actions against farmers.
KTR accused the government of wrongfully imprisoning tribal, Dalit, and marginalized farmers from Lagacherla for over 30 days for merely demanding protection of their land. He claimed the farmers were subjected to illegal charges and harsh treatment, including third-degree torture.
“The government’s handling of the situation is shameful. Farmers are being oppressed under the guise of acquiring land for an industrial corridor. This harassment of tribal people and marginalized farmers cannot be tolerated,” KTR said.
He further criticized the government for its failure to address the concerns of the farmers, vowing that the BRS would continue to fight for justice. KTR emphasized that his party would expose the actions of the police and hold the government accountable for its alleged misdeeds.
The protest highlights the ongoing tensions surrounding land acquisition in Lagacherla and the BRS’s resolve to stand with the affected farmers.
