“Attack on Madarsa Based on Misunderstanding; Shiva Idol Was Knocked Down by Monkeys: IGP V Satyanarayana IPS”

Sangareddy, April 23, 2025:
Multi Zone–II Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sri P. Satyanarayana, IPS, issued a stern warning during a press meet held at the Sangareddy District Police Office on Wednesday, emphasizing that strict legal action will be taken against anyone posting or making provocative statements that incite communal hatred.
The statement came in response to an incident that occurred on the evening of April 22, 2025, in Jinnaram mandal, where the idol of Lord Shiva, placed in front of an under-construction temple on the outskirts of Jinnaram village, was found damaged.
IGP Satyanarayana clarified that a thorough investigation, carried out by senior district officials, revealed that the idol was accidentally toppled on April 19, 2025, at approximately 5:24 PM when a group of monkeys entered the temple area and pushed it from a mound.
However, on April 22, some local residents noticed the damage and, upon seeing students from a nearby Madarsa returning from playing near the temple, questioned them. Without verifying the facts, a few individuals falsely assumed the students were responsible for the damage. This led to a group attacking the Madarsa and damaging its property.
The IGP strongly condemned the act, stressing that disturbing public peace by spreading misinformation or making inflammatory comments without knowing the facts will not be tolerated. He said, “Strict legal action will be taken against such individuals.”
He further reminded the media that a similar incident occurred in Sadashivpet about six months ago, where cows had damaged a temple, but false rumours had been spread, causing tension. A proper investigation at that time also cleared the air.
Sri Satyanarayana urged the public to maintain peace and communal harmony and to report any such incidents immediately to the nearest police station instead of taking matters into their own hands.
He also warned that individuals posting inflammatory content on social media platforms would face strict legal consequences and reiterated that any such acts would be punished severely under the law.
District Superintendent of Police Sri Paritosh Pankaj, IPS, Vikarabad SP Sri Narayana Reddy, IPS, and other senior officials were also present at the press meet.
